Facilities

We have constructed and operate a 600m2 vertical hydroponics facility in Redlands, Brisbane. This growing system accommodates 25,000 plants at a time and has the equivalent productivity of a 2500m2 conventional hydroponic greenhouse. Water usage is less than 50% of a standard greenhouse equipped with horizontal hydroponics, requiring only 24% of the footprint. This facility is being used for further development in robotics and automation, in conjunction with the local university robotic team.

The Greenbio processing  centre is under construction, and will have the following facilities (that will also be available “as a service” for industry partners and farmers):

Indoor cultivation pods for medicinal grade plant cultivation, with cloning and tissue culture facilities.

Extraction facilities – Extraction delivering natural phyto-activity (hydrophilic cellular extraction), accessing natural molecules and water-soluble blueprints of the actives in plants, and CO2 Extraction as an alternative, with separate organic facilities. We should be able to deliver 10 tons of native extracts/oil per month with ease.

Laboratories (R&D and formulations) For humans and animals, validated testing centre (per batch), large library of Australian botanical extracts available (with medicinal properties).

Manufacturing (up to schedule 8 manufacturing) for medicines, cosmeceuticals, nutraceuticals and food.

Distribution & Warehousing – Secure warehouse & distribution centre, pack and send, receiving and exporting of medicinal material.

(Licences/certifications = ODC/GMP/TGA/FZANZ/APVMA (animals)/NICS (AICS)/ISO9001-2015/HACCP)

Team members have strong technical backgrounds from various industries, and, as such, bring a novel fresh perspective to the food and health industry.  Our technology will bring food production into cities, on a small or large scale (paddock to plate concept).

Our business model for ‘next generation protected cropping; demands advanced automation and informatics solutions.   Foundation projects include co-investment in pollination automation, remote phenotyping using machine vision as well as specific engineering solutions for our growing systems to maximize overall production efficiency with regards to labour, water and power usage.  Advanced engineering and horticultural expertise, and rapid prototyping methodology is critical to achieving R&D milestones for our automated cropping facilities.

The developed Greenbio product will include:

  • a fully automated vertical hydroponic growing system,
  • an indoor automated grow facility using climate cell technology.

Our technology can bring food production into cities, on a small or large scale (paddock to plate concept) and will be available for purchase by industry clients worldwide.

Further, intensive protected cropping is ideal for creating inputs to a high specification, elaborately processed goods, in our target precision health product categories. We see food security as a combination of optimised growing through innovative technology to minimise external impacts and optimum nutritional value per square meter of cultivation area.
